Accessibility
Our goal: every page of ChooseAPrivateSchool.com should work for everyone, with a keyboard, a screen reader, zoom, large text, or a phone, in English and Spanish. We aim for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA.
What we do
- We check the site's pages every night with automated tools that test against WCAG 2.2 AA, and we test the main paths by hand with a keyboard and on phone-sized screens.
- We fix what we find as soon as we can. Problems that need a larger change are tracked until they are done.
- Pages keep a clear heading order, labeled form fields, visible focus outlines, a "Skip to content" link, and text that reflows at 200% zoom and at 320 pixels wide.
- Motion is kept small, and the site respects a device's reduce-motion setting.
Known gaps
- School maps come from Google Maps. Google controls that embed, so we can't change its accessibility. Each school page also shows the street address as text.
- Links to other websites, such as official state program pages and school websites, belong to those organizations. We check our own links and labels, not theirs.
Tell us about a problem
If something is hard to use, please tell us what page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what happened (your browser and device help too). We read every message and will reply when we can, and we'll try to help you find the information another way in the meantime.
